2008 Iron Horse Bikes

2008 IronHorse
The 2008 Iron Horse catalog only features the dw-link mountain bike product range. As many of our other models have become more specific to meet individual market’s individual tastes and needs, we have changed the focus of the catalog to be Iron Horse’s unified global marketing piece. More detailed info and content will be available on the ironhorsebikes.com website.
We've seen more and more Iron Horse bikes in China, and with luck Iron Horse will make a bigger push here in 08.

Fushan Trails: Using Google Maps
We had a bit of a problem, our usual trails had gotten a little boring and we didn't really have the time to find some new ones. What could we do?
Well today I popped on Google Maps and played around with the mapping tools for a few minutes, you can see the results below. What I've found are some trails which could/might be suitable for mountain biking, and over the next few weeks I'll be riding these trails and reporting my findings.

Is Google Maps a suitable trail finding tool? Find out soon.

UCI Supercross: Beijing Results
20070822_328231_01
China’s round of the Supercross in Beijing finished yesterday. The win went to American rider Donny Robinson, with Dutch rider Robert de Wilde second and Jared Graves coming in third.

In the women’s event Briton’s Shanaze Reade came first ahead of mountain bike star Anne-Caroline Chausson and fellow French rider Laetitia Le Corguille.

Riders arrived in China as early as three weeks ago to train and get used to the scorching Beijing sun. During the race they were cooled down with blocks of ice to help prevent heat exhaustion.

The event wasn’t only part of an annual series organized by the UCI but also another qualifying competition for 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Videos of the event are available here to watch (You will need Window Media Player)

Qingdao Skatepark Update and Pictures
Qingdao's skatepark is a reality and here's the proof.
QD Skatepark 1
We mentioned earlier this year that there was a possibility that Qingdao would get a skatepark, but info was a bit thin on the ground.
Luckily chinamtb reader, RJ sent us an email saying that progress had been made and we should go and take a look.

STA50023STA50047
The park is set out in to three areas. There is a smaller practice/warm up area at the far end, a halfpipe in the middle and then a larger street style course toward the 'front'.
Judging by the size of the ramps the park has really been designed with skateboarder's in mind, but the small fun box and hip should be usable on a MTB or BMX.
One concern I have is the fact the ramps are made of steel!! Not the grippiest substance known to man/woman!!
We are still unsure to when the park will open, but rest assured you will be the first to know.

Thai Bike Team in China.
The National ??? Bike team of Thailand arrived in Shanghai, China yesterday morning. The young team will be representing their country at a race in Suzhou, which will take place on the 3rd August.
The team is made up of male and female riders, and they will be riding on Trek bikes.
STA50321
Although I was told that the team will be taking part in a mountain bike race the whole team seemed to be wheeling out bike boxes which marked Trek Madone (top of the range Trek road bike).
We at CMTB wish the Thai team good luck and we hope they have a good time in China, whether they're racing in the mountains or on the road.
