Ktrak, a Canadian (?) based company has released this interesting add on for your bike.
The $400 ($540 w/front ski) kit converts almost any brand of frame in to a half-track snow/sand going mountain bike! The track apparently provides 25% more traction than a standard rear wheel, ideal for off piste riding (?!!).
The kit includes a composite rear wheel, which can work with either ‘V’ brakes or 6 bolt discs. An aluminum frame and a reinforced polyurethane track.
Installation is said to be as quick as fitting a standard rear wheel and no special tools are required.
The optional front ski attachment “will further enhance the snow bike experience” says the Ktrak website.
The whole kit weighs in at around 5 pounds and they even have kits for 20’ and 24’wheeled bikes (sorry road bike riders no 700c)
